AZN Television congratulates all the winners and nominees of "The 2006 Asian Excellence Awards Featuring the Remy Martin® X.O Honors."
For the first time ever on television, AZN is proud to present "The 2006 Asian Excellence Awards Featuring the Remy Martin® X.O Honors" in recognition of outstanding achievements by Asian Americans. It was a night of stars celebrating the Asian American community for what it is: a vital, vibrant part of American culture that is both unique and uniquely American.
With the Asian Excellence Awards, AZN shines the spotlight on Asian Americans who have made a genuine difference, inviting those from an often neglected segment to stand forward and be recognized. As the network for Asian America, AZN is the natural home for the awards.
The show was hosted by Kelly Hu and Bobby Lee and honored Outstanding Female TV Performance, Outstanding Male TV Performance, Outstanding Film Performance, Outstanding Film, Outstanding Live Performance, Outstanding Newcomer and Outstanding Stylemaker.
The Remy Martin® X.O Honors were presented for Inspiration to renowned AIDS researcher Dr. David Ho, for Visibility for actress Lucy Liu and for Bridge (bridging cultures) to writer/director Quentin Tarantino. In addition a Lifetime Achievement award was presented posthumously to producer Ismail Merchant and there was a special memoriam tribute to the late actor Pat Morita.
Live performances during the show included Fort Minor, featuring Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park; the original cast of the Broadway musical “Lennon” and the latest Cirque du Soleil show "KA."
